Payment terms: Full payment is due immediately upon completion of the work, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
We reserve the right to charge reasonable costs incurred in recovering outstanding payments.
The issues referred to in this document are not common. In fact, most jobs completed since the start of our business in 2005 have been carried out without any issues or problems.
We believe it is important to make you fully aware of any potential issues that may arise during the cleaning and restoration of floors and furnishings. Our approach is based on integrity, transparency and honesty.
Our aim is to use our professional knowledge and best endeavours to clean and restore your floors and furnishings as close as possible to their original condition.
To achieve this, we may use specialist products that could affect surrounding areas. We will take every precaution to minimise this risk; however, we cannot guarantee that some remedial work may not be required following completion.
In rare cases, paintwork may blister, varnish may crack, and skirting boards or kickboards may show light marks. Some light redecoration may be required. Please note that painted surfaces can fade over time, and touch-up paint may be noticeable.
Once cleaning or restoration work has commenced, the floor must not be walked on. This is to prevent re-soiling before the finish or sealer is applied.
If we are working in a kitchen or adjacent area that restricts access, we recommend making temporary arrangements for meals and drinks. Many clients relocate small appliances to another room during the work.
Final inspection should be carried out from a standing position (approximately 5 feet high and 2 feet away) under normal lighting conditions. Strong glare from windows or artificial lighting may exaggerate minor irregularities and should not be used as the sole measure of acceptability.
After completion, your floor will require a strict maintenance routine. Floors will not remain clean or look their best without proper care. We can provide maintenance guidelines, which should be followed. Art of Clean cannot be held responsible for re-soiling caused by incorrect maintenance.
Failure to follow maintenance guidance may void any warranty and could damage the finish. Suitable products can be found at www.artofclean.co.uk/shop. For ongoing care, you may wish to consider our maintenance plan.
If the floor is walked on before the finish has dried, footprints may be left in the surface. These cannot be removed without re-sanding or re-cleaning. Please ensure the area remains free from traffic until fully dry.
Avoid dragging heavy objects across the floor within the first 14 days after finishing, as this may cause damage.
In some cases, stains cannot be fully removed. If, in our professional opinion, further treatment is unlikely to improve the result, we reserve the right to advise against additional attempts.
Any repairs relating to the above or other issues not listed are not included in the quotation unless agreed in writing beforehand.
The products we use are of the highest professional quality and provide protection and enhancement. However, they may be susceptible to staining before fully cured. Avoid liquid spills, particularly within the first 14 days.
Nothing in these terms and conditions shall limit or exclude liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.
We are committed to delivering the highest standard of service. If you are not satisfied with any aspect of our work, we will do everything we can to resolve the issue.
All complaints must be submitted in writing by email or post within 14 days of the work being completed. Where possible, please include photographs.
We will acknowledge your complaint by email and investigate within 7 working days.
We take all feedback seriously and will contact you to discuss the issue. A site visit may be arranged if necessary, and we will carry out any appropriate remedial work.
If we are unable to resolve the issue, we will inform you. If we determine that we are at fault and the issue cannot be rectified, we will offer a full or partial refund within 14 days.
If the outcome is not related to the quality of our work and you remain dissatisfied, you may refer the matter to the NCCA for independent review via their dispute resolution service. Initial costs will be your responsibility.
If the independent assessment finds Art of Clean at fault, we will reimburse the inspection cost within 14 days and take appropriate corrective action.
Please note that we do not replace new for old. Where replacement is required, compensation will be based on the current value of the item rather than replacement as new.
As part of our cleaning process, we use hot water at high pressure to rinse products from your floor. In some cases, this may result in minor water ingress at the base of wooden kitchen units.
This will usually dry without issue. However, faint water marks or slight cracking may be visible once dry.
If kitchen units are made from MDF or chipboard, there is a risk that water may be absorbed, causing swelling. Once expanded, these materials typically do not return to their original condition.
In some cases, stains in grout lines, deep scratches or ingrained dirt cannot be fully removed. Most grout will clean up very well, but some small areas, particularly around sinks and cookers, may remain affected.
Our cleaning process may expose weak or damaged grout. Any loose grout, cracks or hidden air pockets may become visible or dislodged, and re-grouting may be required. This does not apply to Amtico, Karndean or LVT flooring.
Sealants applied to your floor will protect against spills and enhance appearance. Some products may produce an odour while drying, so good ventilation is required. In some cases, this may last a few days.
Once sealed, no foot traffic must enter the area for a minimum of 6 hours after the final coat. Drying times may vary depending on airflow and humidity.
If footprints occur before the seal has dried, they may leave permanent marks and require re-treatment. Additional charges may apply.
After cleaning and sealing, ongoing maintenance is essential. Floors will not remain clean without proper care. Art of Clean cannot be held responsible for re-soiling due to incorrect maintenance.
Preparation and requirements:
Cleaning patios near windows may cause splashing, leaving water marks. We recommend cleaning windows after the work has been completed.
We do not specialise in major structural repairs. If required, please consult a builder.
We require access to an outdoor tap with good water pressure. Using indoor taps may carry a risk of leakage.
Drainage: If the area floods during rainfall, this may indicate a drainage issue. We recommend addressing this before cleaning.
Waste removal: Leaves and plant waste can be placed in your garden or green bin. We do not provide a waste removal service.
All plant pots must be removed from the area before work begins.
Depending on the surface and sealant used, grass adjacent to the area may be affected and could temporarily die back.
Uneven surfaces may result in water pooling, which can lead to faster return of dirt and weeds.
We cannot guarantee full removal of all stains, including oil, lichen, algae, paint or plant stains.
Ongoing maintenance will be required. We cannot guarantee that weeds, moss or algae will not return.
If weed treatment is applied, there is a risk it may affect surrounding plants. We will take care to avoid this, but cannot guarantee it.
Pointing: Cleaning may dislodge loose grout or pointing. Cracks and chips may become visible once dirt is removed. Re-pointing may be required.
Colour differences between new and existing pointing may be visible.
Sun fading on slabs may remain visible after cleaning and sealing.
Coloured oils and stains may leave marks on skirting boards and surrounding areas. We recommend redecorating after completion where necessary.
Colour treatments may highlight scratches and imperfections. It is not always possible to remove all marks.
Deep scratches and certain stains may not be fully removable without removing excessive material.
Natural variations, wear, previous repairs and damage may become more visible after sanding. We cannot be held responsible for pre-existing conditions.
Adhesives, underlays and sun exposure may cause colour differences that remain after restoration.
If multiple wood types are present, colour variation will be visible after finishing.
If woodworm or dry rot is present, damage may become more apparent after sanding. We cannot be held responsible for pre-existing conditions.
Loose boards may become apparent during sanding. Repairs may incur additional charges.
There must be sufficient thickness in the wood. We cannot be held responsible if sanding passes through thin areas.
Gap filling is not always 100% effective. Movement in the floor may cause filler to loosen over time.
Wood naturally changes colour over time. Sanding may reveal a different tone. Test patches are available on request for a fee.
Environmental conditions affect wood floors. Temperature and humidity changes may cause expansion and contraction.
Re-coating will improve appearance but will not remove all imperfections. Full sanding may be required for a more consistent finish.
Drying times:
Avoid dragging furniture. Any oil residue appearing between boards should be wiped away promptly.
Parking must be available close to the property. Any permits or costs are the responsibility of the client unless agreed otherwise.
We take every care when cleaning curtains and loose fabric coverings. However, certain risks are associated with fabric cleaning.
Care labels: The absence of a care label may indicate that the fabric has not been tested for cleaning.
Shrinkage: Fabrics may shrink due to relaxation during cleaning. A tolerance of up to 5% is standard.
Effect of light and age: Sunlight and environmental exposure may weaken fibres, which can become apparent after cleaning.
Water marks: Repeated exposure to condensation may cause marks that become visible after cleaning.
Metal ring curtains: Fabric around rings may weaken and fail during cleaning in rare cases.
Thermal linings: Some linings may delaminate during cleaning. Replacement may be required.
Stitching: Seams and stitching may weaken over time and may require repair after cleaning.
Specialist fabrics require delicate handling. In some cases, stains cannot be fully removed.
Liquid spills may leave permanent marks. Dry cleaning may improve appearance but may not fully restore the item.
Some fabrics, particularly rayon and other cellulosic fibres, may brown after cleaning. This cannot always be reversed.
Colour changes may occur due to the dyes used in manufacturing. In some cases, this can be corrected, but not always.
If colour change occurs, we recommend contacting the manufacturer for further advice.
